Instructional Services Precision Agriculture Facilitator

Employment Status: Regular, full-time, 12-month. Forty (40) hours per week August 1st annually – Spring graduation; Twenty (20) hours per week Spring Graduation – July 31st annually. Flexible schedule required, including some evenings and weekends.

Position Details

Function:
To perform instructional and work-based learning responsibilities in the colleges Agriculture department. This position is eligible for possible transition to a full-time faculty member in three full years pending successful completion of identified metrics.
Organizational Relationship:
Instructional Services Precision Agriculture Facilitator reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, who reports to the Provost/Vice President of Instructional Services, who reports to the President of the College. This position will communicate regularly and work directly with members of the Agriculture department.
Qualifications:
Required:
- A combination of the below education and work experience will be considered for applicants:
- Bachelors degree in Precision Agriculture or a closely related field and 2,000 hours of non-teaching relevant work experience; or
- Associate degree in Precision Agriculture or a closely related field and three (3) years or more of non-teaching relevant work experience; or
- Certificate, apprenticeship, national or state-issued license, or an industry recognized credential in Precision Agriculture, and five (5) years or more of non-teaching relevant work experience; or
- No degree/certificate and ten (10) years or more of non-teaching relevant work experience in Precision Agriculture
- Ability to operate tools, machinery, and equipment common to learning operations
- Ability to operate (or willing to learn) unmanned aerial system (UAS)
- Experience with implementation precision agriculture technologies such as yield monitors, field mapping, remote sensing, data mapping and collection.
- Commitment to student-centered learning and the use of technology and innovation in the delivery of instruction through various modes of delivery such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats.
- Excellent communication, organization, planning, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as promote and foster a teamwork environment with entire college community.
- Commitment to community college philosophy.
Preferred:
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Precision Agriculture or a closely related field
- Previous agriculture teaching experience
- Experience with use and analysis of geospatial and remote sensing data.
- Experience with ARC Map, ARC GIS Pro, and/or other GIS software.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
Essential Functions:
- Actively participate in campus-wide recruitment efforts and activities.
- Collaborate with faculty and marketing department to implement recruitment plans for prospective students.
- Serve as a point of contact for prospective students.
- Actively engage in activities that support adequate enrollment levels and department growth, for precision agriculture and the agriculture department as a whole.
- Monitor and proactively assist students access academic and other support that will aid student retention and completion.
- Review students academic plans to determine if adequate progress is being made.
- Assist College staff in follow-up activities for graduating or existing Kaskaskia College students.
- Support student activities on and off campus.
- Perform instructional duties as assigned for Precision Agriculture and agriculture related courses teaching less than 30 weekly contact hours per academic year.
- Remain abreast of current trends, technologies and information in subject area.
- Develop appropriate curriculum for subject area.
- Assist in development of alternative educational options including but not limited to short-term certificates, competency-based education, and education and workforce trainings, as applicable.
- Prepare or update syllabi as needed for all courses in which the employee has instructional responsibilities.
- Recommend textbooks and equipment, which the employee deems necessary in instructional assignments.
- Ensure classroom/lab area has sufficient inventory of supplies to be used for instructional purposes.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment conducive for learning.
- Maintain attendance and grade records and provide these records for review as requested.
- Mentor students in the registration process and during office hours.
- Perform assessment of student learning and participate in college wide assessment program.
- Communicate with department adjuncts and dual credit faculty regularly to ensure consistency in curriculum, assessment, etc.
- Actively participate in departmental program review.
- Work closely with industry and educational partners, community groups, and school districts to develop partnerships and growth opportunities and to ensure that the program is meeting the needs of the students and the community.
- Report absences from assigned responsibilities promptly to the Academic Dean.
- Ensure access to students and college employees through posted office hours and timely communication.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Participate in commencement exercises.
- Attend and participate in committee meetings, sponsorship of student activities and other college events and activities both on-and-off campus as requested.
- Participate in professional development activities both on-campus and off-campus as requested.
- In accordance with the Perkins State Plan, maintain team-based challenges and/or a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), as applicable.
- Promote an educational environment that recognizes and values diversity, equity, and inclusion as integral components of academic excellence.
- Serve as Program/Discipline Coordinator as needed/assigned.
Other Functions:
- Review, recommend, and provide input to the Dean in the budget and course fee process annually and regularly monitor departmental budget.
- Assist the appropriate college staff in follow-up activities for graduating or existing Kaskaskia College students.
- Assist the appropriate college staff in the dissemination of information related to Kaskaskia College programs and activities for students and the community.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervise student workers as necessary.
Supervisory Controls:
Employee is required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Consultation
as necessary is available with the Dean.

Employee is expected to follow all College policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and
federal laws. Employee is also expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core
values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and fairness.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Duties will be performed in an academic environment consistent with the program of study and needs of the student. Environment may be prone to frequent distractions and interruptions. Travel within the college district, as well as occasional overnight travel is required as necessary to perform the duties of the position.

LIFE INSURANCE is provided by the College and is effective the first day of the month after hire date. The benefit amount is equal to annual salary. Additional voluntary insurance is available at employees expense.

RETIREMENT PLAN
The State Universities Retirement System requires that 8% of an employees monthly gross pay is deducted for individual retirement purposes.
It is also required that .75% of an employees monthly gross pay be deducted to fund the College Insurance Plan for Community College Retirees.
